Storyboard and shooting schedule

The images below didn't come out how they were planned to, when I uploaded them onto the computer and tried to enlarge them they went all pixelated, but these images are just to show you that we have our ideas on paper although you cannot see them that well.

If you "click to enlarge" them you will see what I mean

I will soon be uploading our real storyboard made out of LEGO figures

Video analysis

Here is a song by Kesha called Tik Tok. It is a narrative based music video. This is because throughout the music video she is explaining what she is doing as well as showing it whilst she is singing. In some respects this video could possibly also be performance based but I believe it is more narrative based.

Above is the video for the Ok-Go's here it goes again. This music video would fall under the concept based music video following Goodwins Theory of music videos. The reason for it being concept based it because the music video doesn't really make any sense and is no way relevant to what they are singing about as you can see they are just moving around on treadmills.

This music video is Blink 182 and the song is called Rockshow, it is a performance based music video. This is because Blink 182 feature in the music video and are performing a lot in the music video.

Ancillary tasks

As part of our project we have been set the ask of designing and creating ancillary tasks from the following:
-Creating a digipak
-Creating an advert for a magazine
-Create a front page our bands website

The two that we have chosen to do is the digipak and the advert. My intentions for my digipak are to take lots of different interesting photos and edit them using photoshop and other editing software. I have decided to make the digipak 4 sides of which I have been given the dimensions for so it perfectly fits an album cover case. For the advert my aim is to try and sell the band as well as I can, as if I were to promoting the band.

Planning our ancillary Tasks

The idea of our ancillary tasks were to make our album cover out of a clip similar to that of in our music video. We thought that the most scenic area that we had used in the music video was the underpass so that is where we have decided that is where we are going to take our photography for the front cover.

Inspiration for our ancillary/analysing other existing work

The first idea of how to see what other magazine adverts looked like was to search it on the internet. Once searching this from just google images alone there was hundreds of different varieties. Below are a few that caught my eye and give our group inspiration:

Above are three good adverts to try and enhance sales of albums and live performances of each artist. The reason why they are good is because they all have a brand identity, this is what we have to try and achieve if we want our album cover to stand out from the crowd. As you can see they are all every different from one another.

Our idea is to use a particular location shown in our music video as both the front cover of the album and also for the face of the magazine advert. This will help us to create a brand identity as we will always use the same house colours in all of these projects. We have the idea of using the underpass which is used in our music video as being the backdrop for both of our ancillary tasks.

The reason for us choosing the underpass is because it is the most interesting location that we have decided to film at during filming. As this location is going to appear in all of our artists work, it will be easy for the audience to realise that they are all linked together, thus hopefully creating a good brand identity.

Below are two images that we are working on as being our front/back cover for our album cover.

Below is an image of our final magazine advert for the second half of our ancillary tasks.
We decided that it would be a good idea to use the same location but a different style of shot to make the magazine advert. The reason for this was because we believed as a group that it would help the audience to recognise our band because of the brand identity that we had used throughout our project.

Brand Identity

For our project we have been asked to create a brand identity, this is where the band that we have chosen has particular things that people can relate to so they know who it is when they see it. For example they may have a logo or a particular photo to show people who the band is and the audience will automatically know who it is without seeing or hearing them.

We as a group are also going to attempt to create a brand identity for our band "The Nites". We have attempted to create a logo and also a picture but as of yet we haven't come to a final decision on which one we are going to use.

Our logo's and picture for our brand identity are to appear on our ancillary tasks when we design and create a digipak and a magazine advertisement.

Here is the logo for our band at the moment. It is also used as the front cover of their album, we as a group believe it isn't the most eyecatching album cover so our aim is to use this as an original idea but add to it.
